Side Effects of the Sensory Lexiconary 2026
Why hello there! Welcome to my first blog post!
My name is Aimee and I am the founder of Sensory Art Bubble. A small business looking to share workshops in the community. If stories, music, creativity and whimsy are your jam, then you are in the right place! Come on in.

| So many sensory delights! |
Since starting Sensory Art Bubble, it has been suggested to me to start a blog. The problem was, I didn’t know what to share, where to start, and then life annoyingly got in the way. I lost momentum and when I came back, I sat for some time thinking to myself ‘What was I doing again?’ Then something serendipitous happened as I began to start slowly working through things. I knew my first port of call in creating a workshop would be the content and I knew I wanted to share sensory stories as part of it. If you have any toes dipped in the sensory realm, this next name will come as no surprise, as I sat down one Monday morning in June, decided to be brave and reached out to Dr Joanna Grace via e-mail.
For those who don’t know, Joanna Grace is a Sensory Engagement and Inclusion Specialist. She is also an author (I have a small section of her books on my shelf) and I have previously attended training from her, courtesy of INSET days during my time working at a special needs school. Those training days inspired me within my personal arts practice and motivated me on my creative path to study an MA in Arts Practice (Arts, Health and Wellbeing).
Fast forward to that moment, where I had e-mailed her about using sensory stories in my workshops. The reply came swiftly, along with an invitation to attend the Super Sensory Lexiconary, there were spaces available. It was very last minute, but it was the following week in Bristol. So you can guess where I was that following week…. yup… in Bristol!

| Jo Grace and Gill Warren presenting sensory potential. |
It was such a pleasure to be in a room with so many like minded individuals. To see such wonderful textile potential in the beautiful creations of Gill Warren and the thought provoking talk from Helen Dunman considering the needs of teenagers and adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Of course the opportunity to learn about sensory systems from Joanna Grace in person, is one I will always take when given the chance! She is a power house of knowledge and makes the day incredibly engaging. With regular breaks, delicious snacks and tables full of sensory props to fiddle with! A neurodivergent’s dream. I love the mantra from her online training, that she doesn’t give you the answers, but aims to inspire you to ask the right questions. I had some wonderful chats with her over the course of the two days, and honestly, whoever said don’t meet your heroes, is incredibly wrong if your hero is Joanna Grace.
It made me reflect that all of Joanna Grace’s training I’ve ever attended, there have been side effects. Influences and motivations in parts of your life where you didn’t expect it. In the case of the Super Sensory Lexiconary you simply administer two doses over a 48 hour period.
Side Effects Include:
*Inspiration - You will have so many ideas after participating in this training, keep a notebook or other writing device within reach for the next 72 hours.
*Knowledge - Flex your newfound knowledge and tell everyone fun facts about their senses!
*Creativity - You will go home, make a mess, experimenting with different things, in the name of science and creativity.
*New Friends - Finding like minded individuals all in one room!
*This Blog - I’ve been meaning to start one for several months and here we are.
